Pecker Taxation101 often outrules Options 101 and therefore because of the capital gains tax relief (if you have held the options more than 12 months) it may be prudent to sell the options rather than convert to shares if there is any doubt as to whether you will hold the new shares for an additional 12 months . But otherwise yes I tend to agree with you . I normally wouldn't be so pedantic except that the earlier poster stated he was new to options and I wanted him to fully understand both the share price implications and the taxation implications - and obviously this varies as outlined before from case to case.
