re: black hawk down - propaganda SunnyJim,

Probably shows how there are always 2 sides to a situation.

What I protest against is how people view the US as a friendly/big brother country looking only to do good. That is not the case. It is manipulative, selfish and dangerous.

The US withdrew from Somalia, if you recall after failing dismally to restore order. Interesting response: tried, couldn't do it, will leave now, oh well TS.

Also back on Iraq another interesting snippet: Starting in 1994, the US backed Iraqi National Accord (INA, al-Wifaq) began launching terrorist attacks throughout Iraq, including attacks on a Baghdad cinema, newspaper offices, sporadic car bomb attacks, and others, largely focused on civilian targets to "destabilize" Hussein's regime through terror. This is the CIA preferred Iraqi terrorist group as it is led by Iraqi military officers seeking to merely replace Hussein with a new military dictator, unlike the more troublesome Iraqi National Congress (see 1995) which seeks democracy. The group was originally founded by Saudis and the British MI6 although the CIA has been involved from the start. After Saddam successfully crushed a INA-CIA coup in 1996, the organization has become primarily an American asset, based in Jordan. After the 1996 failure, the INA lost most of its operatives in Iraq, but has maintained its terror operations, largely directed against rival Iraqi opposition groups, even ones also backed by the United States.

Don't preach about the US being pro this and pro that. They are not. They are self serving with nobody's interests at heart but their own.

The only threat to world peace is not Saddam Hussein or Kim Jong Il or Osama Bin Laden, it's George W Bush and his band of country hicks.

Anybody who wants to debate - feel free.
