The oil sector is ripe for M&A for the foreseeable future as oil becomes more difficult to discover large companies will look to take out their smaller brethren to shore up their own reserves. Therefore whenever a decent bid is made most of the other mid cap oilers will be lifted share price wise in sympathy. Thats how I see oil over the rest of this decade at least
