Speaking of research, I note that there appears to be growing government support of the biofuels industry worldwide. I guess the soaring crude oil price is having something to do with this.

Germany is aggressively ramping up their biofuels targets, instead of 10% blend they are increasing this to 20% in the same timeframe. Although that is to include a component of new generation biofuels, ie biofuels from biomass.

Keep an eye out late January, there's a conference in Jakarta about jatropha oil as a source of biodiesel. The conference will be held on 23 & 24 January 2008.

There is also a CSIRO report out in the last couple of days, the report was commissioned by Caltex.
