Temperatures vary about an average. They are normally not at the average, but above or below.
Soemtimes they are further above than normal or further below.
A one in a hundred year event is used as a design criteria. eg storm water systems are designed to handle one in a hundred year rainstorms.
The fact that we have had some high temps in November is unremarkable. We have had many a November with high temps in Adelaide. Sure we set a record the other day, but 120 years ago the old record was set.
Now if we had never recorded any November temperatures anywhere near 43, then I would say that something unusual was afoot.
There are far too many scare stories on weather these days. As sson as the temp is something other than the average, they seem to get paranoid!
