Wi-Fi is connected to the NBN.
Below is a real life comparison between 4G and NBN Wi-Fi.
Cafe Wi-Fi NBN comparison with Telstra 4G.
NBN
Ping 20.67ms
Download 13.39Mbps
Upload 13.60Mbps
4G
Ping 109.33ms
Download 6.08Mbps
Upload 3.14Mbps
"..The NBN wins out clearly in every category. Ping times are four times lower; download speeds are double; upload speeds are more than quadruple. There’s a very evident speed advantage..."

Alan Jones impressed by 'laser' speed breakthrough
"The scientists at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology said they've broken the world record by sending data at a speed of 26 terabits per second."
Jones said the announcement was proof that the NBN would be outdated by the time it was built, without realising the network was based on exactly the same technology.
“(Fibre-optic cables use pulses of light — or a "laser beam" — to transfer data.)”

The Liberals plan to build a similar white elephant for a claimed maximum of $20 billion less than Labor.
The fact that Fibre optics is capable of 14 terabits per second (that’s 14000 gigabits, or 14000 times faster than the newly claimed maximum speed of 1Gb for the NBN) assures the ability of the NBN to meet future needs.
