Couldn't agree more. The point I was trying to get across was that even in a "degraded" ecosystem there can and will be environmental issues that have to be addressed.

I'm not sure what critters abound in the Pilliga, (isn't there a Pilliga Mouse?), but I threw up the example of quoll latrines as a good example of what can happen- a 200m exclusion area would be an issue if located on a proposed pipeline route- not insurmountable but an issue non-the-less. This is of course the downside to operating in a State Forest (and the upside is considerable!)
