B7,
You mentioned in this thread a while ago about cobalt.
I checked and cobalt is $27,000 now vs 40,000 on 1/1/11.
I also checked on how Co is separated from Cu.
Firstly is just a well defined flotation process to concentrate it up, and a standard process to refine and electrowin the metals.
So down to pricing
CDU uses:
Copper: $2.00 US$/lb; Recovery: 95.00%
Cobalt: $26.00 US$/lb; Recovery: 90.00%
Gold: $900.00 US$/troy ounce Recovery; 75.00%
Currently:
Copper: $3.68 US$/lb; Recovery: 95.00%
Cobalt: $12.27 US$/lb; Recovery: 90.00%
Gold: $1780.00 US$/troy ounce Recovery; 75.00%
Based on previous calcs and CDU's numbers, I produced a replication that gave a 0.85% Cueq, cf with 0.86% from CDU. Close enough.
I then substituted today's numbers in as per above. And the Co look a DISASTER!!!
The Cueq PLUNGES FROM 0.85% TO 0.55%.
B7 - my hat is off YOU ARE AN UNSUNG HERO - A GENIOUS. Thanks for bring this to my attention,in fact all CDU'ers. It certainly explains why you are selling, selling. I can't believe folk haven't been listening and selling with both hands like you! Fantastic.
....just one thing though. The value of our concentrate previously was $16.11/1000lb of ore. On today's valuation it is $19.12/1000 ore.
The copper price has nearly doubled so an a Cueq basis it looks worse.
Sucked in.
So where is your beef? Spit it out lad.
