The single worst pieces of policy now hurting Australians was decades ago; halving CGT on housing. That was the point at which average incomes and average house prices parted ways. Until then they were kept in similar ranges. That is the point at which housing became a speculative, passive wealth generation system.
30 years later..... here we are. The life blood of a capital city: nurses, teachers, retail workers, police can never afford to own a home in the city they service. A massive cost of living crisis that is 90% the result of the price of housing.
..... and not a god damn thing any political party can or will do about it. tick.... tick ..... tick
