UK Labour is vowing to tax private school wage bills at 20% if they get elected, with the proceeds to go towards financing more teacher places for the public system.
But there is a caveat to that plan, which is it will be abandoned if a govt board finds it would be counter-productive.
However that works out, I wonder if the dog Albanese might find himself greatly attracted to a scheme like that here.
There has always been an undercurrent of opposition to private schools among many Labor politicians and their voters, who see them as a breeding ground of privilege and wrongthink.
Of course school education has always been the constitutional property of state governments, but that hasn't stopped the feds getting involved in various ways.
If by some gross mistake on the part of electors, Albanese manages to get in again, might he try that on?
