the housing problems Australia has got are staggering ---------------- but, it's sure not a problem that's just happened since Labor were elected
it's been brewing for decades.
Now basically all we are seeing is that the shit has finally hit the fan -------- literally.
It was always going to come to this. No government, no matter which party can dig Oz out of the very deep, very sloppy, slimy hole that it's in.
One needs to boil down, distil right down the real issue, the real problem -------- and that is
to house people. To make sure they are off the street, to no be sleeping in the street, in cars, in vans, in tents.
This new housing thing of Labor - it's a drop in the bucket. Whatever Oz does IF it's to fix this mess has to be a hell of a lot more visionary than this.
It's hardly worth mentioning because anyone with any brains should know the problems
we need dwellings - we haven't got enough 'available' via the normal understanding of 'available'
which would traditionally mean that we need to build more ---------- but, we can't build more because there's not enough people to build them, there's building companies falling over everywhere, people can't afford them, government can't handle the numbers at all. And no, just cutting immigration won't do much at all for several reasons.
so, there's a few things that need to happen if Oz is to alleviate it's problem
1. for the 'emergency' - Oz needs to move away from 'traditional' solutions - Oz needs to look at what roofs and walls it's got that are empty - and utilise them --------- they are there, we just have to have the guts to move people into them.
2. Fix the system that created the mess - and that's going to be one hell of a big ask politically. But, it's a big piece of the puzzle for not perpetuating the mess.
all of the above require radical moves -------- bringing in Labor's housing policy will do diddly squat,
the real problem is if any government does what would be effective - Ozzies would vote them out. Ozzies have no guts for radical moves.
And there's no point in voting out Labor and voting in the other duds - because they sure as hell don't have any ideas either.
snookered ------------- game, set and match - the winner is 'Lack of imagination and vision' - won in straight sets
