There is growing pressure on Anna Bligh (although it is denied) to remove Elizabeth Noseworthy from the postion she has held at the water resources board.
The position of Ms. Noseworthy, the firm she has been associated with and is now associated with pose problems for the Bligh government in the light of unfolding revelations about Babcock and Brown, its activities, its position and the potential for conflict with Ms. Noseworthy's links to the various private entities with an interest, a perceived interest and potential or liklihood of a future interest in a state owned enterprise.
Apart from all of these possibilities for conflict, Nosworthy's own reputation in the eyes of the public (defended only by the government), the company she keeps and the position thousands of innocent Australians have been placed in by Babcock and Brown with their investments appears to have finally created some movement at Bligh's office.
Whether or not this bit of information now becomes reason for Bligh to stubbornly hang on to this albatross around her government's neck or to cut it loose is to be seen. An announcement is likely to be made albeit quietly.
