Not with the big 4, they have all announced record profits, dividends will be same if not more than previous years.
Sure O/S funding is a bit harder to find but all Aust banks (big 4 at least) have high ratings so they all get funding quite easily.
Non-retail bank lenders may find funding a bit tough, but that is why retail banks now pick up non-bank lenders business.
Aust banks also get a lot more business lending as it is also harder for regular business's to get o/s funding aswell.
seems like some win wins for aust banks there.
There has been an increase in bad loans but that stat has been at unsustainable lows for a few years now. Even if it doubles, it is still outrageously low when compared to o/s banks. Aust. loans are full-recourse, which is not the case with o/s loans, so a huge % more of them get paid back.
Aust. banking is a very profitable business and still carries great dividends. Even better with DRP's at low prices.
All oversold with huge knee jerk short term reactions.
No doubt this will be the case on Monday, but pop down to a local branch and you will find BAU.
I'm a long-term investor and I don't care what your chart says.
