Will China's pork shortage affect global poultry prices

The huge drop in China's pork supply caused by the spread of African Swine Fever has reached Hong Kong (where I live) – there is currently zero pork available in my local supermarket. Given that pork is such a big a part of China's protein intake, there is already evidence that consumers are substituting chicken and beef for pork and at least some of the substitute products are being imported.

Link to article in today's South China Morning Post (HK's leading English language newspaper):

As a side note, China banned imports of chicken from the US and Europe a few years ago because of concerns about avian flu.

Given the size of China's population and the size of the problem, I have to wonder if this is going to spill over into rising demand (and prices) for ING's poultry?
