IOS has a 58% share in the USA, but I think more importantly, the Apple AppStore is more difficult to get listed in, but provides more value. So it makes sense to initially launch with Apple and then do Android later. Apple provide a lot more cross marketing and proactive promotion. And because the apps are trusted more than Google Play apps the Apple Apps receive much more revenue in terms of sales. AppStore apps are trusted more because Android OS isn't as centrally controlled as Apples IOS Google Play aren't (and can't be) as pedantic when reviewing Android Apps. That is to say your Android App will or will not work on a wide range of manufactured devices with a wide range of operating system versions. It is very difficult to launch an Android App that will work on every Android device effectively. Regardless it would be certainly beneficial to get the Android App out, but it will require, like all android apps, some judgements to be made to determine which features, or User Interface, will be dropped or modified to suit as many versions as possible on as many devices as possible. Ideally they will be testing the Android App on virtual test suites which emulate a wide variety of versions. It is a laborious test, and then recoding to optimise, before testing again. The IOS launch is the easiest, and most valued, but Google Play covers the market.
