Ductal is expensive mostly because of the high cost of PVA fibre, however silica fume is cheap and if EDE applied it (or even better, fumed silica) into Edencrete formulation that definitely would further enhance properties and performance of Edencrete enriched concrete. Fumed silica fills up pores dramatically, which improves strength of the concrete and this would benefit the product in applications that EDE is currently targeting in Georgia. Ductal has extremely low porosity, which questions its suitability for application in high rise buildings, at least since the 911 disaster, as low porosity concretes are not as safe as ordinary concretes in case of fires.
