Hi everyone,
It looks like that Africa's biggerst opencut copper mine has now overcome its teething problems with the ramp up and commisioning and is going full steam ahead now.
I have added an article that even mentioned that EQN is now looking at increasing future production above nameplate production.
All this bodes well for EQN and us shareholders.
But it will also push us into a total different ball game as the mine is now basically proven to be very productive and well designed to create a massive income stream and attached profits.
Plenty of value is still unlocked with the Uranium resource , being stockpiled and waiting to become part of the revenue stream.
Production increases and further exploration to unlock the next Lumwana has not even serious looked into as the current resource will last beyond 36 years or so.
And being a tier 1 copper mine the majors are keeping a close eye on this jewel which they still not have in their crown, you can be well assured of this!!!!
There are very very few copper mines with a copper resource of this magnituted who are so serious exposed and vulnerable for a take over.
We have to be very carefull as our shareprice has lacked behind the enormous value that this mine has, and imho I believe that we are a steal at the moment.
Could it be that our shareprice has been artificially been manipulated so a low bid take-over can be achieved????
With manipulation rife in the markets this would NOT come to me as a suprise.
Just remember with China/India growing for the next decade or even longer at a tremendous pace, copper will be in high demand but more tight in supply as not many new big mines are opening up and excisting mines slowly running out of the higher grades.
Big new resources are being found in extremely challenging areas like Mongolia, Balochistan ect and will take years to be put into production, if ever.
So watch Equinox and make the most of this undervalued BIG copperminer as we could make some good money, either from a take-over or from the tremendous amount of money that will start flowing to this company in years to come.
And for those who worrie about the production cost that have been around the $1.10 or so, think again.
Once we are in full production this figure should come down due to the economies of scale. We also are protected against a rising oil price , which certainly will be part and parcel of the foreseeable future once again, due to our cheap hydro electricity on which most of the mine is running.
And once the stockpiled Uranium becomes part of the revenue stream our production cost will fall straight back to under a $1 /lb and we would be the envy of many large copper miners.
Good luck guys and have a serious look at EQN, it will be well worth it imho.
following is an interesting article regarding EQN and the ramping up of the mine.

The performance of the Lumwana process plant, which has been performing above design capacity, has focused the attention of Australian miner Equinox Minerals on increased future copper production.
The company reports that the process plant was originally designed to process 20-million tons a year; however, indications are that it can process 27-million tons a year. Equinox CEO Craig Williams indicates that, once the Lumwana project reaches design capacity, which is expected during the first quarter of 2010, the company?s aim over a period of 18 months is to increase mine output in line with 24-million tons a year.
?This increase would be significant for the company. However, given the large resource and long mine life of the Lumwana project, there is potential to increase mine output further to more than 30-million tons a year. Such an increase will require expansion of the processing plant and the mining fleet. Studies have started, [aimed at probing the feasibility of] increasing the throughput rate and determining the scale and cost of such an expansion,? says Williams.
In 2008, Equinox completed its uranium feasibility study investigating the on-site treatment of discrete and high-grade uranium mineralisation contained within the Lumwana mine pitshells. The study confirmed the poten- tial viability of on-site uranium treatment.
