A trailing stop loss in theory will protect the downside while leaving your upside uncapped. In practice though I've found you can easily get stopped out if the shares are volatile.
Still worth considering though as I can think of a number of shares I've held where this would have been a good principle to apply, particularly after they were strongly in profit.
Anyone had much success with trailing stop losses in practice?
