    As logging of native forests is banned - mature age valuable trees will simply fall and rot in a process of naturally thinning the forest - complete waste to society -
    I remember in 1980's when working in the beautiful far east Vic forests - being told by a bush worker when having a meal one night in Cann River - "That you can hear trees fall if you stand still and listen - on a calm day when there is no wind to prevent the sound carrying to you" -
    I tried that and it is true - "I heard distant trees crash down" -
    And in course of work I came across them at times - A whole mini eco-system lying horizontal on ground that was once vertical -
    To be sure of getting around on bush tracks we always carried a chainsaw -
