''your own post says that great advances .....accelerated.......after the invention of printing''
It wasn't religion that invented the printing press. Mechanical innovation does not need religion, but may be applied to any field, building bridges, ships, motors, and so on
Plus the invention of the printing press enabled not only bibles to copied and printed for mass distribution, thus taking the monopoly of scripture and its interpretation out of the hands of the Church, but allowed questioning of its teachings and thereby loosening its stranglehold over ordinary people....helping to strengthen the renaissance and science, philosophy and free thought, and its own slow decline into irrelevancy.
The distinction between religion and science being quite clear.
Science being a method of systematic study of the natural world, acquiring information and testing in order to build a reliable understanding of the world.
While religion is a made up explanation of things, how the world came about, who or what made it, etc, which were not understood by the ancients.
At best, religion falls into specific class of philosophy called Ontology.
