Bauxite exploration and aluminium production in Central Highland

Description: According to direction of the Government on the policy of investment in bauxite exploration, aluminium production and refinement in Central Highland, the project of complex of bauxite exploration and aluminium production with the capacity of 600,000 tons per year in Tan Rai (Bao Loc, Lam Dong) of Vietnam Minerals Corporation and the project of aluminium production with the capacity of 100,000 tons per year in Nhan Co Industrial Park (Dak Nong province) of Vietnam Coal Corporation shall be invested by Vietnam. Projects with the capacity of 1 billion tons of aluminium upwards and aluminium refinement project after 2010 can be implemented in the form of joint venture with foreign party to attract capital, technology, management capacity, etc, but Vietnam must hold controlling shares. For these projects, Vietnamese enterprises shall preside, cooperate with foreign parties to conduct the exploration and assessment of mine volume. The exploration of raw bauxite for exportation is not permitted by the Government.
