I have broadly looked at the prices on coal
using "trading economics" via
https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/coal and hence they specifically relate to another market other than Newcastle. But the gains are similar as you display.
How much different are Newcastle prices from what NHC actually get. The $60 that Tully8282 talked about just after your post (Post #: 52716972) is more contract than market prices isn't it.
Seems price is more important in this commodity quarter by quarter than volume (which is generally known).

2017 NPAT of $128.7M and prices ?? vs volume ??
2018 NPAT of $253M and prices ?? vs volume ??
2019 NPAT of ????? and prices ?? vs volume ??
2020 NPAT of ????? and prices ?? vs volume ??
