Well said mate. There is the possibility WHC may miss out on the sale of BHP’s mines too. I’ve noticed a few reports of late of SMR getting back in the mix with a $1.1B loan plus additional funding to secure Daunia. I hope this is not the case as WHC could use additional coking coal in their production mix. If WHC does secure both mines for US$3B / A$4.7B I see the purchase a great move longer term. We’ll find out what happens within the month anyway.
What is your estimate on upcoming final dividend for NHC? Noting NHC should hold approx $750 - $800 million in cash at present, more than this time last year which was $715 million and they paid a $0.56 final dividend. Capex would no doubt higher this year with current expansion of both Bengalla and NAC mines.
I’ve recently been buying more YAL as they already generating 6Mt - 7.5Mt in coking coal sales annually, on top of their thermal mix. With the current price of met coal looking strong around US$308/t from next month, rolling into northern hemisphere winter by Dec, YAL anticipating stronger second half, holding over $1B in cash, great value buying below $5.00 imo.
