The share price of most of the gold stocks I follow has fallen materially. The fall in their share price has been greater, in percentage terms, than the fall in the price of gold. I don’t think there is anything unusual about that. The fall in NST’s share price has been exacerbated about concerns over the Pogo mine, even though NST made clear when it acquired the mine that it would take time to turn it around.
If you take the view, as I do, that the price of gold is the early phase of a secular bull market, and that NST will in fact succeed in its goal to make the Pogo mine its best asset, in time NST’s share price is likely in my view to exceed significantly its previous high of $14.
