Early days but the South Australian Government in collaboration with tertiary education are introducing training programs to support a new sub build. The SA Government has swapped land with defence so a Skills and Training Academy can be built near the sub site and other former defence land can be redeveloped for some housing.
There is a limitation at this stage. If the program isn't scrapped beforehand the subs will be conventionally armed and the nuclear propulsion system made overseas. So we won't be contravening nuclear proliferation policies. These boats are fueled for life and presumably we won't know the secrets the USA's reactor design.
