    g'day OMS:

"ultra high speed Photonic network". . I hand't encountered this before so did a quick search. interesting. it seems this will require much more rapid processing than the tech currently commonly available. it seems it needs quantum processing to achieve full value.

yes its coming. just as reliable energy mix is coming. what has been needed to prepare for this is
    a) stable government, not fluctuating between left and right
    b) willingness of Govt to actually plan and execute such plans
    c) corporate involvement to capitalise on installations of grid system renewal, renewable energy tech which exceeds current availability and establishing small community energy hubs
    d) willingness of the major energy producers to invest in new tech and prepare to demolish old tech (coal/gas)
    e) realisation by those currently opposed to future developments to let go of current beliefs and extend their investment prospects to future tech.

the major difficulty Aus has had to face on this front is the bs pushed by conservative political mob. Howard recognised the reality and made efforts to lay the groundwork for encouraging emissions reduction (this is the most important aspect as it relates to GW). but he waiting too long and made his Govt's dying promise.

Gillard made enormous strides forward and Abbott defeated her govt and made enormous strides backward. We've been stuck on hold until this recent loss by the Morrison mob. - note: it wasn't Albanese that won Govt but Morrison's failures that lost him govt.
