Thanks for bringing up the breastfeeding issue.
While breastfeeding is a natural process, there may be many problems associated with it. Some of tgese are: problems with baby not latching on well causing pain, clogged/plugged milk ducts where the milk incompletely drains causing redness & pain, engorgement/ high milk supply causing baby not to latch properly, mastitis- a bacterial infection causing flu like symptoms & pain,thrush- a yeast infection transfeered from baby's mouth to breast, low milk supply/ no let down, baby falling asleep whike feeding, flat/ inverted nipples, and overactive letdown causing high milk supply & pain. These are some of the difficulties requiring lactation specialists. Around 8percent of babies are born prematurely in Australia & the incidence rising.Some mothers struggle to make it to the 6 month mark if at all.
