The main reason why the media continues to report endlessly about COVID hysteria and the main reason why politicians continue to lock us down, is that it is in both of their interests to continue to do so.
Politicians in Australia (particularly state premiers) as well as the public health bureaucracy, now have unlimited and unending power over all of their citizens. Why would they willingly give this up? Some premiers won their elections purely because they made their populations hysterical about a virus which 98% of the world are not at any serious risk from.
The media now have a topic which produces endless articles on every single part of life. Sport - COVID stories about players breaking covid rules, economics - covid payments to struggling people, business - covid impacts on share markets etc etc.
COVID is not particularly dangerous to almost everybody in the world, but it is particularly fruitful if you are a journalist or a politician or a public sector worker.
