The political decision of the Queensland ALP Premier today to (from Tuesday 3 November) to only open the Queensland border to 'rural NSW' but not 'Sydney' will be a further pain for QAN, costing it quite a few million dollars every week as Sydney to Brisbane is usually the second most popular air route in Australia.
If the Queensland ALP gets defeated tomorrow - not what the polls say, but they've hardly a great forecasting record in recent years - that could all change.
Using border closures as political weapons is a stain on our Federation, disadvantageous to all of us. Only NSW (whose Premier has by and large done a good job) has been immune from this sort of poor decision making.
