On Tuesday 31 August, in addition to the dire situation (see above) re minimal fligghts ex SYD today, it's no better from Tullamarine, Melbourne.

QAN 'red tail' jets depart just four times today: one each to Darwin, Launceston, Perth and Sydney. The Perth flight this evening is a widebody Airbus A330-200, but the Launceston flight is a smaller jet, a B717. There are turboprops to Devonport and Mildura. Only two flights depart after 1200 (noon) today from MEL. Shocking underutilisation of an expensive terminal that QAN no longer owns, having sold the family silver.

Subsidiary Jetstar does not have a single passenger-carrying flight from Melbourne today. It must have recently cancelled flights to Hobart and Launceston as these appear on the airport site.

QAN can at its discretion operate training flights to keep flight deck crew 'current' with their registration but this is expensive. It will also be using simulators but these are finite. No doubt Mr Joyce, CEO can enlighten us - there was a brief mention in the recent summary - but while I am not monitoring flight status sites 24/7, having all pilots/first officers 'ready for duty' should the state (and international) borders ever reopen must be challenging, and not cheap.
