That was historically true (although really, the 'top three' routes in the 'golden triangle' of Brisbane - SYD - Melbourne were immensely profitable).
However, if at a very conservative guess, business travellers' flying drops by 15-20 per cent, the cream will be taken from QAN profits domestically.
This group pay through the nose as usually, companies or government departments pay the fare so the passenger couldn't care less how much it costs. Zoom/Microsoft Teams/Webex and others have become a 'silent' competitor to QAN and other airlines.
The recent decision by Virgin Oz to lease more planes in time (from c.February 2022) will create more price and schedule competition for the red roo. Annoyingly for it, REX should also again be hanging around, albeit with only a small fleet on selected major routes including Melbourne - Adelaide and Mel - SYD.
