I believe the QAN A380s have already been written down, and in fairness, Joyce references this fact as a reason for why he believes they could be profitable in the future. Although this is a nonsensical argument to make. Absorbing a few billion dollars in charges because your planes are useless and then you fly them again with a non existent cost base and declare that you're miraculously turning a profit on a plane that you already spent billions of dollars writing off.
No idea if this is even legal from an accounting / financial statements point of view.
