Will QAN survive?, page-4964

I sometimes feel like the world has gone mad. QAN still has an atrocious balance sheet. Its massively cut costs and suffering as a business from those cost cuts. That people argue Qantas' issues are universal to airlines, is because universally, airlines cut costs too. You can't blame everything on COVID and staff shortages, when you are cutting staff left right and centre....and then on the flip side shelling out on a buyback. WTF?

Joyce has run this company into the ground and now has effectively sold off longstanding assets to buy back shares on the highs.....again. I never liked the title of this thread. Alas I think it may becoming apt from this buyback. Crazy a nonprofitable company that was very recently on the brink of bankruptcy and remains a balance sheet risk, just cordially accepted by investors, in buying back shares.

The mkts really are stupidly shortsighted sometimes.
