'The Australian' reports on the latest NAB consumer sentiments survey which while finding Australians are comfortable with job security (a good sign) contains this warning for airlines including QAN:

"...About a third of consumers are also cutting back on holiday plans, food deliveries and have cancelled or delayed a major household purchase..."

Separately, the 'AFR' has a story about how investment banks belive that the proposed Virgin Australia float ought expeditiously proceed because if interest rates rise further, conditions for an IPO might not be so (pardon the pun) crash hot:

"...But the prospect that the Fed could need to cause more pain to the extraordinarily resilient labour market and household sector, either by raising rates higher than expected, or keeping them higher for longer, should give investors some pause – especially for those in consumer-facing stocks..."
