Even if they were, in the mean time the mortgage repayments on the average mortgage moving from fixed to floating will be going from $2500 a month to $4000 a month. That's derived from the RBA's own figures, not a crystal ball.
That means the Aussie consumer is about to pucker up tight, whether they like it or not.
Qantas has had an amazing purple patch with pent up COVID demand and constrained supply. That's already reversing:
