Nor is QAN a patch on numerous other Asian, and some Middle Eastern airlines, although I omit Royal Brunei, Saudia and Kuwait Airlines from the latter as they refuse to serve alcohol.

Better airlines than QAN for business class from Asia include All Nippon Airways, China Airlines (of Taiwan), Eva Air (also of Taiwan), Japan Air Lines, Korean Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines. I exclude Malaysia Airlines: poor safety record.

From the Middle East, one can include Oman Air (tremendous), Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Aiways but beware their outdated Boeing 777s that have poor seating configurations and perhaps (not one I've travelled on) Gulf Air.

None of these airlines typically feature he poor service (and lately, apparently poor food) that tends to feature on Qantas. Yet the latter can often charge far more per nautical mile than most competitors.
