Virgin Australia may not be profitable in perpetuity, but apparently it is at present given the high air fares.
Qatar Airways has had previous losses but in 2022-23 its net profit was US$1.01 billion.
QAN's interests can't be matched to Australia's interests. As the CEO of WES said in the last couple of days, it's 'profoundly disturbing' that the Federal Labor government believes that its job is to 'protect QAN.' What about hundreds of thousands of other Australian businesses in all economic subsectors?
