I totally agree re investing in new planes - the fleet is one of the most ancient currently flying around the planet. That is in fact a big part of AJs illusionary "extraordinary profit".

But you seem to want it both ways - spend the neccessay catch-up investment billions AND continue on with these revenue plundering buy-backs - for short term, s hort-sighted shareholder instant returns.
uh uh not financially possible - and imo, would be another 1st Class PR disaster to add to the list.

Ps - the ACCC are not "emotional flogs".
Qantas is just about to get more than one very hard lesson about that.
The first wake up call that the regulatory world has shifted for QAN was the ACCC's kaboshing of the Qantas - China Eastern attempted collusion that was announced just this very morning.

I promise you they will now be under the cold hard unemotionsal microscope of every regulator in the country from this day on.
