I don’t think Qantas will be broken up, but the public mood towards the company will not improve for a while. They are effectively a reasonably toxic brand, but Virgin, Rex, Bonza, etc have no way of taking up all the capacity that Qantas has domestically, or competing with the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, unless Virgin status matches. Internationally, though there is a lot of choice and Qantas doesn’t stack up well. The board needs renewal and they need to stop being political. People are turning away
