I think we should not look to nationalise. We have a number of airlines now with Virgin, Rex, and Alliance plus others. We need to stop Qantas influencing inept governments and let’s face it, all our governments have not been great for a while. All politicians and public servants should have to hand back Chairman Lounge memberships as let’s face it, it buys their loyalty. That should be the same for Virgin.
I think this movement from focussing on commercial, rather than political would help Qantas sharpen up. They need to focus on customers rather than politicians. Qantas is not perceived well and this would be a good bold measure that would start to win trust back of public.
