It's not just the lack of service compared to Asian and Middle Eastern carriers (or even, in Oz, smaller airlines such as REX, which has its own financial troubles but still manages to give passengers a mostly reasonable experience), but it's the lack of arriving on time and the cancellations.
This is the recent record of the nonstop QF9 c.17 hours Perth to London. The 26 October 2023 morning diversion to Paris (CDG is the code) was probably due to poor weather at Heathrow, but many of the other delays (and cancellations) can be blamed on QAN:
(for instance, on 30 October,QF9 landed in London at 0906 so by the time it got to its arrival gate it'd be about 0912 or later, so it was more than four hours late).
Yet so many rivals can operate punctually.
