This is a great article on the decline of Qantas. It also shows how they have run the company down with little investment in new aircraft and an executive team that really is the same as for Alan Joyce and clearly is not great. The fact they have to wet lease aircraft, and my experience recently is they also use a number of Alliance aircraft.
They clearly need to change direction significantly, and don't have the people to do it. They need to get people from outside the tent who aren't drinking the Kool Aid that Qantas management are.
