    Just a minor correction to my earlier post. If memory serves me correctly, TAA became Australian Airlines, which in the 1990s was taken over by Qantas Airways, so it technically never went bust. And yes, I remember one airline had a revival, it was Compass as you pointed out.
    I do see what you mean Hopeful, that airlines are a bad investment. Warren Buffett quipped once that they should have shot down the Wright Brother's plane at Kittyhawk.
    I've made a lot of money on Qantas trading the highs and lows. It sells off quickly but recovers quickly as well. Unfortunately that means QAN is not a buy & hold stock. It's purely a trading stock. You do need to watch it like a hawk.
