"...Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce has faced criticism that the company left Australians stranded overseas during the Covid pandemic.

Nationals MP Bridget Mackenzie accused Qantas of allowing foreign airlines to do the heavy lifting to repatriate Australians from overseas during the pandemic.

Mr Joyce said airlines such as Qatar and Singapore Airlines were fully supported by their domestic governments while Qantas was not.

“While a lot of those airlines are fully government supported with seemingly unlimited budgets to help them get through,” Mr Joyce.

Funny how he omits airlines such as the USA's United Airlines that took out post-COVID-19 ads to remind Australians how it operated relief flights while QAN refused to unless QAN received a Federal government handout.

UA is not a government airline, and it's not alone. Philippine Airlines (owned by Filino magnate Lucio Tan and family, not a government) was another, and there were quite a few others.

But disingenuous replies is what we expect from Mr Joyce (and the silent QAN Board).
