the asic are in realuty saying that shorting is so good we have to ban it.
What a contradictory statement. Many companies have been pummelled under short selling, and has made the market decline more than it would have.
Remember the old adage if you can afford to keep the shares do so. A lot of shares just would not have been sold, and fewer margin calls etc , like a domono effect.
Well asic thinks banks are vunerable so, extend the ban.
What about mining companies???? They dont have govt gaurantees!!!
So the logical next step is to ban short selling on mining companies to help them as well.
At least OZL is in trading halt, that has been a blessing.
