Sibanye-Stillwater has a history of pulling out of major deals.

In January 2022, they abruptly terminated a US$1.2 billion deal with Appian Capital Advisory to buy two large nickel and copper mines in Brazil. SSW have since lost a legal battle, which ruled that the company was not entitled to pull out of the deal. They will return to court next year, I believe, where costs, of potentially up to US$600 million, will be decided.

Given this poor record, what is the likelihood that they will pull out of the deal with Ioneer, particularly if they are still under legal and financial pressure from the failed deal with Appian?
