It will never become our national sport.....Football is ingrained into the Australian psychi.
Thus saying that I believe soccer is very much on the map and all it needs is money to kick it off and hopefully in the future self generate its self.
One very big problem is Australia hasn't the population to compete with overseas countries in regards to paying the players so we are always going to lose the classy players to the premier league for example and at the same time keeping the local competion from the required potential standard.
If Australia can get soccer as popular as basketball and with a competion at the same level then watch out world.
The great international soccer teams always have very strong and proffessional local competion.
Getting Australia into the premier league is a great concept but once again it will be at the demise of the domestic competion....I feel Australia needs to develop and concentrate on the ground level domestically.
No doubt this has changed Australians attitude towards such a great game and will be interesting to see where it leads from here.
