Dear watso,
When one considers the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (which Act ought to be repealed) and in particular sections 9 & 14 when read with section 48, the compulsion of doctors to at least refer a patient to a doctor who supports abortion is outrageous and offensive.
The State compels some doctor's to act against their conscience. With the current regime one would think there isn’t enough service for those who may choose to have an abortion to in fact have one, and that the issue of abortion is so trifling that compulsion to refer for an abortion is no issue at all. Both notions are as preposterous as the compulsion itself.
