King, I still think we get the governments we deserve. Our voters have more sources of news and commentary available than ever before but seem to limit themselves to one or two which reinforce their prejudices, not challenge them.
After the Whitlam years the electorate seems to mature and the cry "Where is the money coming from?" was heard. Today the cargo cult mentality is overwhelming and money and budgets are beyond most who couldn't give a rat's about them.
Just promise you will throw money at the health, education and emergency services and you are guaranteed a win if your opposition dares suggest any of these could do more with less. That's blasphemy.
