If there's coal, oil or gas in the ground that can be sold for a profit then global warming will take a back seat no matter how hot it gets. If they don't get dug up it will be an economic catastrophe: just think of all the jobs they'll support (you can count them on one hand).
Beaches will erode, the barrier reef will become a washed out parody of itself, the North pole ice cap will melt, the Opera House will need to have higher walls around it, food bowls will turn to desert, refugees will flee from flooded lands and dried out deserts and certain people will still maintain that it's not the result of man made warming so we don't need to do anything about it except to build higher walls against floods and refugees.
Saltocan I would wish that your enthusiasm reflected reality but the fact is that inertia on global warming is very very scary and very very real. Political reality is not smiling on PTR.
